Capturing the Rich Culture of Italy at www.Casa-Belvedere.org

In the Italian language, Casa Belvedere means “house with a beautiful view” and nowhere is this more evident than at 79 Howard Avenue in Staten Island. With its lavish grounds and rich history, Casa Belvedere, a New York City historic landmark, sits on nearly three acres atop Grymes Hill and boasts a spectacular view of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and the New York City Harbor.
In November 2008, Staten Island residents Gina Biancardi-Rammairone and Luciano Rammairone purchased the mansion with dreams of restoring it to its original splendor while converting it to an arts and cultural center for the community to enjoy.
Through innovative programs, exhibits, and events, the Foundation seeks to preserve and promote an appreciation of Italian language, arts, literature, history, fashion, cuisine, and commerce while also celebrating the Italian heritage and the contributions of Italians and Italian-Americans to the fabric of the United States.
Award-winning Producer, writer and director Tony De Nonno gave a presentation on CELEBRATING the MANTEO  MARIONETTE TRADITION and took his audience on an enlightened journey into Papa Manteo Sicilian Marionette Theater.  Audience members will see how the marionette, resplendent in its suit of armor, struts, walks, talks and engages in battle-ready combat stances with chivalrous aplomb.  Several
'children of all ages' in attendance will be given the opportunity to experience manipulating the puppet.  It was evident that Tony De Nonno not only is a master at puppetry but has such tender caring love and respect for the Craft that he wants to share.

A Night To Honor

Army Private First Class Brendan Marrocco and Army Staff Sgt. Michael Brown made sacrifices in the war against terrorism so Staten Islanders - and all Americans -
could continue to live free.
Last night, more than 800 people packed the Excelsior Grand (www.ExcelsiorGrand.com) to thank the two wounded soliders during a fundraiser hosted by the United Staten Island Veterans Organization. The two decorated veterans were showered with praise as hundreds of well-wishers shook hands and took pictures with the heroes. Present and also paying respect were actors Matthew Modine, who starred in Stanley kubrick's seminal war film "Full Metal Jacket" and Tony Sirico who played Paulie Walnuts on "The Sopranos." Rep. Michael McMahon made a rousing speech and even sang some songs with Elvis. ( This article was taken from the STATEN ISLAND ADVANCE and written by Doug Auer.)

Community TV is pretty hard work- Long hours no pay...
We volunteer for it because we are passionate about the talent we book and we want to see them get the exposure they deserve.
